Licton Springs P-Patch, Seattle, WA:
As Project Manager of one of the newest public food gardens in the nationally-recognized City of Seattle Dept. of Neighborhoods P-Patch program, I was responsible for keeping the 15,000 sq. ft construction project on track and within its $170,000 budget. Using 30% volunteer labor and 70% City job-training crews, this job also included organizing all-volunteer neighborhood teams for outreach, marketing and fundraising. Tracking grant funds, facilitating public meetings and acting as liaison with administration from North Seattle Community College, which is host to this unique site, were other aspects of this demanding position. www.lictonspringsppatch.wix.com

Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden, SeaTac, WA:
As Garden Manager for the non-profit Highline Botanical Garden Foundation, I was charged with maintenance, marketing and event management for this 3.5-acre public garden. Management tasks included training and supervising a diverse array of Community Service workers, propagating and selling nursery plants at the on-site nursery, coordinating with City of SeaTac Parks & Recreation staff, and promoting and hosting a yearly calendar of special events and workshops.

As Designer and Garden Manager of this public food garden installed in 2011, I was charged to demonstrate new kinds of sustainable urban food production systems. Sponsored by the non-profit Community Harvest of SW Seattle, the Community Orchard (or COWS) is a showcase of many different kinds of gardening strategies that are particularly suitable for urban yards and gardens. Organized around permaculture principles, this 6,000 sq. ft. garden contains the first public food forest planted in Seattle.
